This year (Happy 2018!) marks my 3rd Christmas in Geneva, Switzerland. And I thought it was about time I started talking about what to do in Geneva.

Normally, we’re outdoors.

Here is a hiking day with day with the whole family at

Le Môle, French Alps

The Môle is most famous for it’s summit, where in 1775 Sir George Schuckburgh evaluated the height of the neighboring peak, Mont Blanc.

If you make it to the top, you’ll be rewarded with a panorama of the surrounding massifs: the Bornes, the Giffre, and the Chablais.

Difficulty: Easy

Altitude: 1,863 m

Ascent: 1 hour 30 min

Descent: 1 hour 00 min

Elevation Gain: 800 meters

Round-trip: 9.2 km

From the parking lot, you can follow the gravel path to a trail into the forest. It’s a slow incline for about about thirty minutes to reach the Petit Môle.

From here you already have a magnificent view of the surrounding peaks. We stopped for a picnic lunch here.

Continue on the trail to reach the summit. The slope starts gently, but will become steeper towards the summit of Le Môle. You can see the top, which is marked by a wooden cross. The panorama of the Chablais, the Mont-Blanc and the Bornes Massif is simply magnificent.

You can descend by the same route, or by the trail along the ridge. You’ll go through some undergrowth before getting back to the buvette at Petit Mole. The ridge path is quite steep, and slippery in places so watch out.
